Pathway Counselling, a Christian organisation operating from a range of sites in NE London and S Essex, arose from a desire to make counselling available to everyone by providing a low cost service to complement private and statutory provision.

Pathway supports and helps people experiencing a range of difficulties, but it is not a crisis, nor is it an advisory or befriending service. The counselling offered by Pathway is based on active listening with the aim of helping a person see their situation more clearly and to help them take responsibility for their own life in order that they can make their own decisions.

At various times in our lives, we all experience difficulties with which we seem unable to cope on our own. We may feel anxious, be experiencing family, marriage, work or lifestyle difficulties or worried about children and family members. It may be that we are struggling to come to terms with illness (physical or mental), bereavement, abuse, trauma or facing major life changes like redundancy or retirement. Then again, we may want to rid ourselves of an addiction. Help is offered by Pathway in all these circumstances as well as many others. We do not offer advice, but assist the client to make their own decisions.

Although it is hard to judge accurately a successful outcome we believe that we are seeing a better than average rate of people being able to turn their lives around. We have stories of hope, reconciliation, recovery from depression and individuals rebuilding their self worth and happiness.  While our faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ is complete, we do not seek to force our views upon our clients. Instead, it is our aim for His love and compassion to be communicated through our work
